Veteran Quartet of Artist for Groovin in the Park 2014

On Saturday morning on Groovin Radio, the latest announcement of acts for the 2014 edition of Groovin in the Park was releases. Since the announcement and subsequent interview with Chronixx, the first act to be confirmed, there has been anticipation of the next artist that will grace the stage at Groovin in the Park this year. The addition of this young, talented act was a surprise to many patrons of previous events but was well received by the tri-state audience of Groovin Radio. During the interview with Ras Clem, Chronixx also conveyed his excitement about performing on the outdoor stage of Roy Wilkins Park with his Zinc Fence Bandmates.
The latest announcement of acts this Saturday pushed the event up another notch. The main act announced was the Queen of Reggae, non other than Ms Marcia Griffiths. Marcia who is celebrating fifty years in the music industry will be joined by some of her friends that were instrumental throughout her career. Joining her will be a partner in her early career, non other than Mr Bob Andy. The two experienced great success during the 1960s when they collaborated on numerous songs and albums. During the period there song Young, Gifted and Black topped the charts at home and abroad. Bob Andy also experienced individual success as a singer and songwriter.
Also added was Judy Mowatt, who was a part of the reknowned I-Threes along with Rita Marley. The groups claim to fame was as the backing trio for Bob Marley and the Wailers. They also toured and recorded as a group. Finally, the last member of the quartet is none other than John Holt who was a member of The Paragons (of which Bob Andy a founding member) which had success throughout the 1960s and 1970s with songs like The Tide Is High. John also went on to have his own success after leaving the group.
The addition of this quartet is in conjunction with Marcia celebrating her 50 years anniversary. There will be a number of events worldwide to mark this milestone and we are excited that Groovin in the Park was selected as one of these events to give the New York area a chance to be a part of the celebration.
